Nuclear Watchdogs

Nuclear Watchdogs

“The station performs the task of detecting radioactive isotopes. When they are detected in the atmosphere, it indicates that a nuclear explosion has occurred somewhere,” says Igor Pitetsky, Reserve Officer of the Soviet Army’s Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces. Today, he works daily at the IMS station in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia. His main job is to detect the traces of nuclear weapons and avert any emergency. Find out more about the routine work and the nuclear testing control system.

Watch "Nuclear Watchdogs" on RTD website and on RT's live feed. The time of the broadcast is available on RT's schedule page.
